Few things vary as dramatically from one year to another quite like wine.
I give a wine gift to my artist friends almost every single Christmas because I know they will see the value in something which not only continues to change, but is also unpredictable.
Before being able to taste wine, we see the bottle it is stored in (at least most of the time!). That bottle often comes with art and other images, which some wineries choose to change from one year to the next. Although it is a nice way for them to reward a local artist, it also gives those of us who truly love art something else to enjoy outside of the wine itself.
The wine itself, of course changes quite a bit on a yearly basis as well. Take a traditional Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. While the vineyard location stays constant the grapes are ever changing based on growing conditions and even the blend of wine within the finished product can vary dramatically from one year to the next!
